Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Upgrade components

Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in several fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes available for it and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item is not able to get to its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material but will result in a lower chance of success.
Engineers employ a level to compare the height of the building to a known location, such as the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level, then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. Rerolling
